I’m Not Sure Why We’re Doing This

Tomorrow Katie and I are going to be walking eight miles and handing out fliers for a food drive to every business on 34th street — from Slide Road all the way to Avenue Q. In the snow. Up hill. Both ways.

Why? Because they offered $80 to whoever would take the job, and it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas presents. An extra eighty bucks (minus the 31% “self employment” tax we’ll pay on it) is going to be big help. It did sound like a good idea yesterday. Tonight, not so much.

If we had nothing else to do tomorrow I probably wouldn’t be dreading it, but we’ve both got appointments at 1:00pm, and since most business don’t open until 10:00, that leaves around two and half hours of walk time, which probably won’t be enough. Which means we won’t get finished. Which means we’ll be back Friday finishing it up. And then I’m not sure if this “quick” eighty bucks was worth it.

Oh well. I’m getting to do it with my best friend in the whole world, and she reassures me that not only will this be good exercise, but it will also be a funny story to look back on years from now. And I know she’s right. And that is why I really am looking forward to tomorrow.

And that makes it worth it.

Snow!?, and hills in Lubbock!? Just think of all the people you will be letting know about the food drive that don’t know about it and then the people who will be blessed from the good people that will donate, and all because of your good deed. You will have been blessed with the extra $.s and all will be BLESSED!

Love you guys, Mom V—- :)

I agree with Katie! Good exercise and something to look back on one day. Plus, it is just another thing you two can do together which so many couples are not able to do because of so many other obligations.

    Love ya’ll!
